Today, very few tapestries are woven by hand. Most of the tapestries are woven on machine looms which are based on Jacquard Loom. Very few tapestries that are actually hand-woven are quite expensive.As a rule, small and medium size tapestries are made from cotton using some viscose. Large tapestries are made from wool and cotton blends.
Although tapestries do look beautiful, they also demand some care. You need to remove dust from it periodically using soft brush or vacuum cleaner. In the rare case of soiling, careful dry-cleaning is required.
